An Associated Press story over the holidays made plain that folks over 70 keep sexually active. I quote from what ran in The Washington Post: JONESBORO, Ga. -- A 36 year old hitchhiker was in custody in Michigan for the suspected sex-related slaying of an elderly Georgia man, police said. Charles Johnny Rice of Johnson City, Tenn., was arrested Thursday in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as he drove the car of the dead man, Chester Smith, 72, of Jonesboro, police said. Authorities said they believed Smith picked up Rice the day after Christmas on Interstate 75 in Georgia and was killed after he brought the hitchhiker home. Police said Smith's wife, Evelyn, 76, initially told them that her husband had her throat slashed by a knife-wielding intruder who had burst into their home to rob them. But she later said that she and her husband often picked up hitchhikers for sex and that this time the encounter turned deadly, police said. End of story. Too bad that Rice ruined a good thing for wankers who hitchhike through Georgia and who might have enjoyed a good piece of 76-year-old tail!

Rock star Gary Glitter committed for trial

LONDON - British 1970s "glamrock" star Gary Glitter was committed for trial Thursday to face child sex and pornography
charges. The decision was made by magistrates in North Avon, outside Bristol in western England. No date for the trial has been set. The
flamboyant singer was arrested last year as he returned from a holiday in Cuba after police allegedly found pornographic pictures in his possession. Glitter was charged with possessing indecent photographs of children. He is also charged with assaulting girls under the age of 16 and four other serious sexual offences. UPDATE: Nov2005:
HANOI, Vietnam (AP) -- Authorities said Thursday they are searching for former British rock star Gary Glitter over his alleged relationship with a Vietnamese teenager.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung said officials have confirmed that Glitter, 61, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, was residing in a home in southern Vung Tau city and had applied for permanent resident status in Vietnam.
Glitter rose to fame with glam-rock songs in the 1970s, most notably his only U.S. hit, "Rock and Roll Part 2," a largely instrumental song that has been a staple at stadium sporting events for years. Among his other songs hits were "I'm the Leader of the Gang (I Am)" and "Do You Wanna Touch."
Glitter fell from grace in 1999 when he was convicted in Britain of possessing child pornography. He served half of a four-month jail sentence before being released. He later went to Cambodia and was permanently expelled in 2002, though Cambodian officials did not specify his crime or file charges.
Dung said that Glitter had left the house on Nov. 12, and police are seeking his whereabouts.
"At present, relevant authorities Ba Ria Vung Tau province are trying to trace this gentleman, and clarify the relationship between this gentleman and a Vietnamese juvenile," he said.
Dung said authorities have conducted interviews with a 15-year-old girl who they found in the home rented by Glitter.
"If evidence of a (legal) violation is found against Mr. Paul Francis, and especially evidence of sexual child abuse, I believe that very strict legal measures will apply to him," he said.

The former glam rock star, Gary Glitter, went on trial in Vietnam, charged with molesting two girls. Glitter, who is 61, real name Paul Gadd, faces up to seven years in a Vietnamese jail if he is convicted of committing obscene acts, including kissing and fondling a 10-year-old and an 11-year-old girl in the resort town of Vung Tau.

After his arrest last year, five more girls accused Glitter of abusing them and Vietnamese prosecutors said Glitter could face a firing squad for child rape.

Glitter has vigorously maintained his innocence, and insists that he was teaching the girls English and that he treated them like his grandchildren.

Glitter has flitted between Cuba and Cambodia, where he has been expelled twice, after serving a two-month sentence in Horfield Prison near Bristol in 1999 for possessing "hard-core, sick and degrading" images of children on his laptop computer.images were discovered when the singer took his computer to be repaired.

NEW YORK- Alyssa Milano has a new avocation - Internet vigilante. With the help of her mother, the star of TV series
"Charmed," "Who's the Boss?" and "Melrose Place" has formed a company called Cybertrackers that surfs the web for unauthorized nude photos of celebrities. Milano tells the December edition of Cosmopolitan magazine she started the business three years ago after her then-12-year-old brother Cory logged onto an Alyssa web site and got an eyeful of his big sister. "I was sorry it hurt him," she tells Cosmo. "I mean, I have no problem with the nudity I've done. I just don't want someone taking it out of context and making $15,000 a month off of it." Cybertrackers has sued five sites for using unauthorized nude celebrity photos and won money in each case.

While contraception has lowered birth rates, better health care is allowing people to live longer. The global population now at 5.9 billion is expected to climb to 6 billion by Oct. 1999 and 8.9 billion by the year 2050. But a dreadful break on population growth is AIDS, expected to devastate a generation in 34 countries, 29 of them in Africa. HIV has spread to 30 million adults and children, or 10% of the population in those countries.

PARIS - French film star Alain Delon asked a Paris court Wednesday to bar a journalist from writing his biography, alleging a summary of the projected book showed it would be slanderous. Delon's
lawyer, who has called the project a demolition job, also asked the court to order journalist Bernard Violet to pay 400,000 francs ($73,000) in damages for allegedly defaming him and invading his privacy. The court said it would rule Nov. 18. Delon's lawyer Jean Braghini has called the draft proposal "rubbish bin juice," saying it only dwelt on the sexual history and other private aspects of the life of Delon, 63, who played tough guys on screen for nearly four decades.

Three U.S. scientists whose discoveries led to the use of the Viagra anti-impotence drug won the 1998 Nobel Prize for Medicine Monday. Robert Furchgott, Ferid Murad and Louis Ignarro were awarded the 7.6 million crown (US$955,500) prize jointly for their discoveries about the role of nitric oxide - long considered just an air pollutant - as a signaling molecule in the cardiovascular system. The discovery has applications for the treatment of cardoivascular disease, shock and possibly cancer, as well as impotence, said Sweden's Karolinska Institute, which awards the annual prize, one of the most prestigious in medicine.

Security will be beefed up at an off-Broadway theater for Tuesday's opening of "Corpus Christi," a new play that features a gay Jesus-like character who has sex with his disciples. The New York Post said Catholic, Muslim and Jewish groups are planning to protest the play's opening so in addition to
strengthening the security force, producers will require patrons to pass through a metal director. Terrence McNally's play originally
included full-frontal nudity and sex scenes but he toned it down. However, the Post said it still has an open-mouth kissing scene with Jesus and Judas.
